Seasons Around Lake Sinissippi

Several local amateur photographers have agreed to share their favorite images of Lake Sinissipi here.

Lake Sinissippi Sunrise #1 Lake Sinissippi Birches Lake Sinissippi Sunrise #2
A (very) early morning sunrise in early spring. Birches usually change color first in the fall. Two lone geese cruise the lake during a spectacular early morning sunrise.
Over Lake Sinissippi in Winter Early winter birch Hazy summer sunrise
An aerial view (about 300' up!) from northern Lake Sinissippi in winter. Just before winter, a birch stretches its limbs against a clear blue sky. A hazy summer sunrise promises a hot mid-year day.
Rainbowed Horizon Winter Sunrise
A marvellous view of a double(!) rainbow. Winter sunrises are among the most spectacular.

White Pelicans What The Heck ... ...oh, it's a deer, swimming!

Lisa Rees caught this image of a six-point buck ... ... swimming (or tiptoeing!) across 100 meters of open water near Spearhead Trail.
White Pelicans At Rest More Pelicans Even More Pelicans
Over 150 White Pelicans have been spotted at the Horicon Marsh... and White Pelicans are commonly seen on Lake Sinissippi. Thanks to Jim and Denise Rasche for these close-up pictures of magnificent birds!

Operation Osprey

Larry Sullivan took these pictures during the erection of the osprey nesting platform at the southwest end of Lake Sinissippi in December 2002.

Manuevering the nesting platform Nesting platform erected Installed Osprey Nest
The nesting platform is manuevered to the waters' edge ... ... swung slowly into upright position ... ... and becomes a new lookout post for a waiting osprey.
